My Journey Has Been Rewarding

Moraa Simpson

A Risky journey that has proved to be worth it.

“I’d never think of a better description that would fit the a mother watch her child grow through time and go places ”

Are the words Novet Akinyi Holds dearly to, she believes that novvy closet is her most valuable treasurer. It has not been easy but definitely has proved to be worth it. She has seen it grow from nothing to something that is worth watching out.

Her story gives the young ladies and gentlemen hope that it doesn’t have to be a white color job, if there’s something you are passionate about, do it. you never know what kind of results it might yield.

Novet is always humbled to come by someone dressed in a Novvy Closet outfit it definitely strikes some kind joy within her, well she has greatly grown business wise.Currently she does close to 30 deliveries within Central Business District per delivery day, for her that is quite something she super proud of and didn’t see it coming .

Unlike her common perception that friends are your best clientele to help your business grow, for Novvy closet friends have been the factor that pulls them back.with friends making orders and failing to pay up. But this didn’t discourage novet from working towards making great. She hopes to make a brand out of Novvy Closet and scale to greater heights.

“Novvy Closet is one of my most precious baby that I don’t intend to let go of.” this were the last assuring statements from Novet.

Sure enough Novvy Closet is one that you all should look out for its coming up fast and Big.From us from Vybe Trends 254 we can only afford to wish Novvy closet the very best. Keep winning

73 percent of people said yes

13 percent of people said it doesnt bother me

7 percent said no

7 percent said i don’t follow up

In line with the above Survey that was conducted, it is very evident that the fashion trends in Kenya are fast. And Kenyans have acknowledged this fact. However quite a good number that don’t even care what goes on around them in line with fashion. If you could ask me there’s need for Kenyan’s to look out for fashion trends and how they unfold. Well I feel like the negligence of the number that voted that ” they don’t know ” or it doesn’t affect me has brought into perspective the cases of you walking in town and going past someone along the streets and you wonder to yourself “who dressed this person or don’t they have a mirror with them, it may not be as easy as it may sound to dress properly and look good but atleast as Kenyans we could definitely do better. Let’s learn to be cautious of our surroundings, a looking good definitely feels good and definitely no better way to repay your body for being so good to you than through dressing well, sometimes it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Fashion trends come and go be sure to try out the trending trend before its outdated.Fashion is life and looking good feels nice and a good body deserves to look good

Passion In You Look Nice

Simpson Moraa

TERRY:Hi,what’s your name and what do you do?

AURELIUS: My name is Aurelius Robert my work is to transport or import bales from outside the country, am an importer of second hand clothes so that’s what I do

TERRY: So how does you being an importer of bales how do you keep up with the trending fashion as per your time of importation?

AURELIUS: Second hand clothes are unique in their make so they don’t have to go with the current fashion people prefe5r them because they come in their unique way so they are varying they don’t go with the current fashion that is on going

TERRY: So how is the economic status of your business as per now?

AURELIUS: The economy is not that bad because this clothes are affordable to both the middle class and the poor they come with affordable prices so the people around can afford to buy them, so I think to me the economy is not bad it’s okay for me.

TERRY: So how has the coming of the Chinese into Kenya and starting their own business of bale supply also affected your business?

AURELIUS: It has affected us but I can see the government is trying to restrict them from doing business in our markets so I think after some time it will catch up and after they are out of the market we will continue doing our business as normal

TERRY: Another thing is that we’ve heard you as small scale business people complain about t5he clearing process at the port what can you tell us about that?

AURELIUS: It has been a challenge to us because currently the cargo is being cleared at the Nairobi inland container deport so there has been so changes which has brought out some delays but the president himself went to the port and declared the cargo should be cleared very fast so that we can do our business in the right pace and receive the cargo at the right time we need them.

TERRY: Since the president came to the port has there been any changes with how you as business people are being handled at the port?

AURELIUS: yes, yes absolutely yes because we have seen very many containers being cleared from the port and we have received all the cargo we needed at our markets, so right now we are doing very well and we thank the president for that.

TERRY: So what will you tell someone who wants to start the wholesale bale supply?

AURELIUS: you must have the passion for that job because it has a lot of challenges, yeah so passion is all what you need and hard work and be determined to work with different kinds of people and meet different challenges.

TERRY: Okay thank you so much

AURELIUS: Thank you thank you

Ankara Affair.

If there’s a group of people that always upheld their cultural heritage, this would definitely be my African people. From their foods and ceremonies to their beliefs not forgetting our dressing. Wait did I just say dressing? ooh yes I did I feel like the cultural dressing gave rise to the African dressings the Ankara’s to be more specific. The only difference is that the stylist just gave this Ankara designs a simple facelift to let them look somehow modernized and still not lose their cultural look.

Many a times you’ll meet this couples along the streets or in events dressed in a matching attire preferably one with an African touch. The world has come to accept our ways of dressing and our fashion sense that’s why you’ll not miss a touch of African culture in two of five white’s wardrobe, who could have thought we would one day turn out to be influencers with our cultural wear.

The wide range of Africana fabrics makes it even more easier to rock them over and over again without overdoing it. The wide range of these fabrics include the khanga, Ankara, kitenge, dashiki, kitenge, kente, and gele. This fabric was in the olden days handwoven.one thing that has overtime stood out for this fabrics is that there were those colours that are produced to fit a specific group of people. What do I mean? There are the super bright colours that would go so well with the ladies, some calm colours that go well with the gentlemen, some patterns that blend in both the bright colours and the calm ones to bring out the couple shade for the couples.

Couples have in the recent days stood out with this Ankara designs to weddings ,church, dinner parties which is so sweet to see public display of affection that speaks itself out even without questioning its excistence.some of the designs include a shirt for the man and a matching dress for the lady, a kimono for the lady and a shirt for the man, and the most uncommon one is both of wearing a full African attire ,which if not carefully looked it you may seem to overdo the look remember you’d not want to look like you are also being too much.

Remember to rock the African attire lets uphold our African culture in a modernized way, I still feel the African look is super beautiful and out of this world. WE ARE AFRICAN, AFRICAN IS WE, AFRICAN IS BEAUTIFUL.

Stilettos Of Hopelessness!!

‘Resilience and hard work will get you everywhere but keep your dignity above all is the only advice id give any lady out there that wants to venture into modelling’. This were the words of Jedidiah Ondigi who is both a lawyer and a professional model when I sort to know her story throughout this journey.

By just looking at the beautiful ladies participating in beauty pageants you and I would assume that this could be the easiest things to do. I mean who can’t walk and smile right? But that’s definitely not my thought after talking to Jedidiah as She narrates how her journey has been.

For Jedidiah she started her journey a model while in high school at statehouse girls high and would participate in inter-house and inter-classes beauty pageants. But she decided to take it up seriously while at the university. When I sort to know whether she does it as a full time or leisure time activity she said “I wouldn’t call it leisure. Am both a lawyer and a model by profession. I just find a way to do both without interfering with either”

Well she has managed to participate in so many pageants among which are MR &MISS Kabarak 2013 which was for the lack of a better term her stepping stone in her modelling career and opportunities started to open up. Other beauty pageants she participated in are MR&MISS campuses Nakuru county where she won. Later she participated in Miss Culture Nakuru which she also came out victorious. She also participated in Miss red cross Nakuru and Miss tourism Nakuru she managed to be first runners up in both. This so far is what we would call the pick of her career.

She narrates that the journey has not been as easy as it may sound since this particular field is really corrupt.it is also a bit costly especially when you don’t have a source of income to get the clothes and attires not to mention the gowns to participate in competitions.it comes to a [point that even designers ask for sexual advances from various people in the industry. And on a 2% basis you’d find someone who is willing to help you in your journey contrary to the 98% that will need something in return. And I was left wondering so what next for the ladies that want to go into modelling?

She however works as a freelance model since in our country the modelling agencies are either too expensive or depends on who you know and worse comes to worse you are asked for sexual favours. This statement totally broke my heart and I wondered if the government is doing anything to support the said field and the response was even more saddening.

With a sad curve on her face she said ‘our government is in the least involved except for the few pageants they get to organise that are obviously rigged or all the money put out for these selfish human beings ‘When I thought I had heard it all then she said ‘as a country we have a long way to go’. With all these I was left wondering if the government cannot be on the front line to support our young youths to make it in fields of interest then unfortunately I feel like we are failing as a nation.

After listening to how fierce this lady is I was curious to know who she looks up to, and once again she didn’t disappoint. She looks up to Naomi Campbell, who is an English model, actress, and businesswoman. Recruited at the age of 15, established herself amongst the most recognizable and in-demand models of the late 1980s and the 1990s] and was one of six models of her generation declared supermodels by the fashion industry and the international press. However,In a few years to come she hopes to own one of the biggest modelling agencies in Kenya that will be out to protect models from the various challenges they face.
